Yost & Baill has a full-service business, corporate, and real estate practice group handling all types of commercial matters for its clientele. Our business clients include every manner of business from publicly held companies, to privately held multiple- or single-shareholder corporations, to limited liability companies, to family enterprises, and to all forms of partnerships and sole proprietorships. Our commercial real estate clients range in size from national real estate investment trusts and local shopping centers and malls, to single stand alone businesses. In most cases, our business clients are simultaneously real estate clients, whether they own their own building or lease their premises. In the over 25 years of experience of the department chair, the firm has represented virtually every type of business endeavor. We pride ourselves on the long-term relationships which we have developed with our business and real estate clients over said time frame; many of whom have been doing business with the firm from our inception.

While Yost & Baill business, corporate, and real estate attorneys are licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, our clients' legal and business interests often extend throughout the country, as well as internationally. Relationships with law firms throughout the world allow us to provide legal assistance to our clients wherever their business interests may take them.

The business, corporate, and real estate practice group, and its individual members, have also been recognized with the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell law directory’s highest rating for professional expertise and ethical practices. Our partners have additionally been repeatedly recognized as Super Lawyers by Minneapolis/St. Paul magazine, Minnesota Law and Politics magazine, and Twin Cities Business Monthly magazine. Our younger attorneys have been recognized as Rising Stars by the same publications. Further accomplishment and recognition has been awarded via Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who Among Emerging Leaders, and Who’s Who in the World.

Aside from serving the needs of our clients, the members of the group also participate in many professional and community activities. We have been asked to serve on statutory revision commissions to analyze, negotiate, and draft legislation, including legislation which was ultimately enacted into law by the Minnesota Legislature. Those requests have come from the Minnesota Supreme Court, as well as the State and County Bar Associations. In one instance, a partner was involved in legislative committee participation for several years in a major overhaul of the garnishment and levy statutes, which committee rewrote and clarified those statutes to make them more consistent and readily understood by Minnesota employers, employees, and financial institutions. Those statutes, and the statutory forms which arose out of the committee work, continue to govern consumer and financial transactions in the state of Minnesota, and remain the law of the state. In another instance, the chair of the business practice group was recognized by Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Sandy Keith for his involvement in the legislative process and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Minnesota Supreme Court. Attorneys in the business practice department are frequently asked by continuing legal education sponsors to author materials and to lecture at their seminars. The group’s partners are also routinely sought out to serve upon non-profit boards for both trade and charitable associations. Within the communities in which we live and raise our own families, our partners further serve upon city councils or legislative committees serving and supporting those city leaders.
